After receiving powers from an alien named Rhomann Dey who fled Xandar, Richard gains enhanced strength, the ability to fly, and the power to generate and manipulate gravimetric energy from the Nova Corps. He first joins the intergalactic Nova Corps and later becomes a long-time member of the New Warriors on Earth.
