An alien symbiote entity that, after detaching from Peter Parker's body, bonds with the journalist Eddie Brock. Motivated by resentment towards Spider-Man, Brock decides to take on the identity of Venom, becoming a formidable threat to the Web-Slinger. Although he has been a villain for a long time, in more recent incarnations, he plays the role of an antihero, occasionally willing to team up with his arch-nemesis Spider-Man for a greater good.
