After losing his parents on a journey to find the city of K'un-L'un, he is found by the village's inhabitants and trained in combat. At the age of 19, he is given the opportunity to face the dragon Shou-Lao to become the new Iron Fist. Having obtained the power of Iron Fist, he returns to New York to avenge his father's murderer. Subsequently, he becomes one of the members of the Heroes for Hire alongside Luke Cage.
